Drawing Near To God

One of the greatest pursuits in life is knowing God. Like any discipline or relationship, discovery doesn’t happen by accident; it comes through intentional pursuit. The more we draw near to Him, the more we experience His presence, His love, and His truth in our lives.

When we pursue God and seek to know Him, the reward is not only finding Him, but being found in Him.“ – A.W. Tozer

3 KEYS TO DRAWING NEAR TO GOD:

1. Getting Closer to Him

Just like any meaningful relationship, closeness with God requires consistency. Through prayer, worship, and reading His Word, we begin to understand His heart and hear His voice more clearly. (James 4:8-10)

“Intimacy with God is not an event, it is the pursuit of a lifetime.” – John Piper

2. Removing What Stands in the Way

“Anything that cools my love for Christ is the enemy of my soul.” – John Wesley

Sometimes barriers such as sin, distractions, or misplaced priorities keep us from experiencing His fullness. Drawing near means surrendering these obstacles and choosing to place God first above all else.

“…Stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us.” – Hebrews 12:1 (AMP)

3. Spending Quality Time with Him

“To be alone with Jesus is heaven on earth.” – Charles Spurgeon

God desires intentional time with us. Setting aside quiet, uninterrupted moments in His presence allows us to grow deeper in intimacy and discover His will for our lives.

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. – Mark 1:35

KNOWING GOD IS NOT A ONE-TIME EVENT BUT A LIFELONG JOURNEY.

These 3 keys are simple, practical & empowering. “Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). As you pursue Him daily, getting closer, removing barriers, and spending quality time, you’ll discover a relationship with God that is rich, personal, and life-changing.

The closer you get to the Author of life, the clearer the pages of your life become.” – Charles Spurgeon
